Dale SwiftAfter college and a four-year stint in the Air Force in the late 1960s, Mr. Swift began his career in real estate as a mortgage loan officer with a savings and loan association in Roanoke, Virginia. After reviewing real estate appraisals for mortgage loan purposes, he then joined a leading appraisal firm in Roanoke and began his appraisal career. Mr. Swift was a mainstay of the commercial and eminent domain appraisal staff of JMA. In the early years, he traveled the United States appraising large institutional properties including apartment complexes, business parks, shopping centers, and individual office buildings. In those days, clients were primarily syndicators, insurance companies, and pension funds. From the late 1990s, Mr. Swift's concentration was entirely in the eminent domain field, for highway and electrical power line acquisitions.

After over 40 years in the appraisal industry, most of those with JMA, Mr. Swift retired from the appraisal practice fully in 2016.
